JTC:
Religion and Politics never should be mixed up together.
You may hate it but preciselly because of such hatred that any modern democracy gurantees through its constitution freedom of expression and religion.
US Constitution First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
This corresponds to Japanese Costitution Article 20 (freedome of idea and religion) and 21 (freedome of expression and political participation).
This includes freedom of any polititian to exercise his/her religion, worshiping at or making donation to even an unpopular religion. This also includes any religious, popular or unpopular, believer to participate in politial activities, supporting any politicians or ppolitical parties.
